Personal Biography – Rev. Dr. Scott Arnold
Rev. Dr. Scott Arnold is currently senior pastor at First Baptist Church of Los Angeles, California. He and his wife Marilyn (Penacerrada) have been blessed with 36 years of marriage, and they have three adult sons (Mark, Thom and John), two of whom live in California and one in Texas. Marilyn is from Iloilo City, Philippines and was baptized by an American Baptist missionary and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1978. She has been a registered nurse for many years and is now working as a nursing supervisor at a Veteran’s Medical Center. Scott has served churches in Chicago, Illinois; Providence, Rhode Island; Battle Creek, Flint and Quincy Michigan and metro Boston.
Scott is a witness to God’s love, grace and truth as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Scott grew up in Michigan with Christian parents. His family went to Memorial Presbyterian Church in Midland, Michigan. When he was a junior in High School he began to seriously study the Bible. The very words of Jesus spoke to his heart and mind. Hearing the Gospel message, he personally came forward and prayed to receive Jesus Christ as Savior at church. “After prayer, I opened my eyes to see Christ within fellow believers and realized that Jesus had come into my heart.” Scott continually thanks God for the influence of his parents, the church and the influence of his grandfather, Rev. Forrest R. Gilmore, an American Baptist Minister for over 50 years in New England. After his conversion in High School, Scott grew as he helped with children’s and youth ministry.
