THANKSGIVING – Reflection on the goodness of GodWritten by FBCLA Support on Nov 20, 2017 in BlogChurch OutreachEventsPrayerSpecial Events - No Comments
As I reflect this week leading up to Thanksgiving Day on November 23, I praise God for you, the members, families and friends of First Baptist Church. I am thankful for the opportunity given to me to be your Interim Shepherd as you prepare for the call of the next pastor of this historic congregation.
As the song goes, “we have so much to thank God for… He’s made a way for me, He gives me victory, He opens doors for me that I am unable to see. So much to thank God for!” As you are reflecting on the goodness of God this week and spending time with family and friends, think about the numerous blessings that God has granted you. I guarantee that you will have little room to complain, but more time to give gratitude and live with an attitude of gratitude. On behalf of the leadership team of First Baptist, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!
Excerpt from “The Prayer of Thanksgiving” by Howard Thurman, 1899–1981
Today, I make my Sacrament of Thanksgiving.
I begin with the simple things of my days:
Fresh air to breathe,
Cool water to drink,
The taste of food,
The protection of houses and clothes,
The comforts of home.
For all these I make an act of Thanksgiving this day!
With Thanks, Pastor Bullock
