LENT AND ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE
Ash Wednesday Lent Service in the Francis Chapel.
Lent—the season of reflection leading up to Easter—provides an excellent opportunity to embark on your own devotional journey.
Lent is the Christian season of preparation before Easter. The season of Lent begins Ash Wednesday and continues for 40 days (Sundays are not included in the count) through Easter). Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, and spiritual renewal & discipline. The purpose is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ – his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial and resurrection.
Ash Wednesday – March 6, is the official beginning of Lent, which is a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal which prepares us for the experience of Resurrection on Easter Sunday. We will begin this season of Lent with a special service at 7:00 p.m. in the Francis Chapel.
