March 26, 2018
Can you believe it? Easter is only a few days away! I’m looking forward to the Resurrection Celebration we have planned for you and the friends you’ll bring with you this year. The message, “The Resurrection: An Identity Changing Journey” offers assurance of the transformation that can happen with Jesus with us on our journey in life. Our choirs and worship planning team have planned a special worship service with you in mind.
During Holy Week, we walk in the footsteps of Jesus as he transitioned from death to life. This season has also been a transition for First Baptist as we continue to pray, plan and prepare for our future.
This year, we are asking you to invite your friends to “Be One of 250″ attending First Baptist Church of Los Angeles to celebrate Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday. I am asking you and your family to plan now to accept this invitation to be with us on this great day, Sunday, April 1, 2018 to reach our goal of 250. We would be honored!
Here are five specific things that you can do as we prepare to celebrate Easter next weekend:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6). Please join with me in continuing to pray that God directs our hearts and minds as we plan, prepare, work and serve God. God has great plans in store for First Baptist as we continue to give our lives to Him.
2. Invite your friends!
It’s always amazed me that although I know many of my friends are LOOKING for a church to attend on Easter, I still feel nervous when inviting them. Maybe it’s the fact that we all feel a bit nervous when talking about things that are important to us. The truth is, when you invite a friend to join you for church on Easter they very often will come, and even if they cannot, they’ll appreciate the fact that you thought of them.
Hopefully, you have the announcement that has been included in the church bulletin over the last few weeks, the recent newsletter that you can pass on to your friends and the post cards that have been distributed over the last two Sundays.
3. Prepare to give a special Easter Offering on Easter Sunday
Each year, we collect a special offering at Easter as a praise offering what God has done for us through the resurrection of Jesus. Please bring it with you on Easter Sunday or, return it to the church by mail. Our goal is to raise $5,000 through this offering.
4. Come join us for breakfast on Easter Sunday, April 1 at 9:15 am and stay for our Resurrection Sunday Worship Celebration at 11:00am!
5. Personally celebrate the good news of Easter starting today.
Just think of it: because of Easter our past is forgiven, our life is worth living and we have a future in heaven! Romans 3:22 says, “We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done.” (NLT)
I’m looking forward to seeing you Easter Sunday!
